History

I've always felt a great amount of love for my wonderful parents, and have tried to show that gratitude to them in various forms. Well, one week I felt a surge of love for them and I decided to write a song about them. I wasn't sure how to do it and still have it be a song enjoyable to everyone who hears it. I thought about my wonderfully healthy childhood, and it spun off from there. My parents let me be me, and I will always love them for doing so. When I was growing up, it was always ok for big-boys to cry. What a blessing that has been. My hope in this song is to both show my parents how much they mean to me, and to take the listener through a journey of what a healthy childhood is like.
Lyrics

Mommy...
I did so good today!
Here’s the ribbon teacher gave to me
I won first place in the game...

Daddy...
I got an A on my test!
Teacher was so proud of me...
I gave it all my best!

When he comes to you with a smiling face
be sure to let him know....
The love you feel, how good he did....
And how much you’ve seen him grow...

But on the days he comes with his head hung low...
And wiping his big blue eyes..
Just look at him through his teary cheeks...

Daddy..
I fell down again today...
I was riding like you told me to
but I got off along the way...

Mommy...
Someone else took first place...
I couldn’t run as fast as yesterday..
and I didn’t win the race.

When he comes to you with a smiling face
be sure to let him know....
The love you feel, how good he did....
And how much you’ve seen him grow...

But on the days he comes with his head hung low...
And wiping his big blue eyes..
Just take him up into your arms

and as he’s wrapped all up inside your arms..

Let him cry....
Let him feel....
Let the tears flow down as he kneels..
Please let the hurt... make him into a man.
This experience will help him understand.

Mother.....
Now that I’m all grown up..
Can I tell you through this song of mine....
I cannot thank you enough.

Father....
I know you did your best...
Thank you for your worthy hands...
I want to follow in your steps...

When I came to you with a smiling face...
You were sure to let me know...
The love you feel, how good I did...
And how much you’ve seen me grow...

But on the days I came with my head hung low
and wiping my big blue eyes...
You took me in and let me cry....

Yes, you took me in and let me cry...
