Mending

It was a beautiful vase;
Made with expert craftmanship,
Intricate design;
Surely not made by human hands.
Now, there it lay;
Scattered about on the floor
In what must have been a million pieces.
He picked it up,
Handling each piece as if it were priceless
And irreplaceable.
Piece by piece
And with utmost care
Each piece went back into place.
Finished, He stood back
And looked at His work and said,
"It isn't new anymore;
It has scars
But in time and with patience
My love will do what others could not.
The day will come when my love
Will make it whole and beautiful once more."
